Rabbits have a great liking for sweet food and feeding them treats is one way of satisfying their sugar craving. However, it is important to be mindful of the ingredients that went into making the treats as they should complement your pet’s diet. Here at Pet Lovers Centre, we stock treats specially tailored to enhance rabbits’ diets from well-loved brands such as Burp! and Marukan.
Your rabbit should have been consuming hay for at least two weeks prior to starting on treats. When he is ready, keep in mind that you should feed the treats only in small amounts. Also, when buying treats for your pet, do keep a look out for those that are made with natural ingredients, with no added flavours and colourings.
It would be best for artificial or sugary foods to be avoided entirely as they can cause digestive problems. Ideally, your pet should consume natural treats such as a variety of low-sugar fruits. Dried pineapple is an example of a great treat for your rabbit as they contain enzymes that help your pet digest fur balls.
